Jalandhar, April 15: The Two-Day 10th Annual Athletic Meet of DAV University
commenced with great enthusiasm and sporting fervour at the university campus, bringing
together students from various departments to compete in a wide range of track and field
events.
The meet was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, DAV University, in
the presence of Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Arora, Registrar, who also graced the occasion. The
inaugural ceremony featured a ceremonial march past, oath-taking, and the lighting of the
torch, symbolising the spirit of sportsmanship and unity.
Declaring the meet open, Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar said, “Sports play a vital
role in shaping character, discipline, and leadership among students. This athletic meet is not
just a competition but a platform to nurture resilience and teamwork. In today’s fast-paced
world, physical fitness is as important as academic excellence, and universities must create
opportunities that encourage students to excel in both. I am proud to see such enthusiastic
participation, which reflects the vibrant sports culture at DAV University.”
Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Arora, Registrar, highlighted the importance of co-curricular engagement,
stating, “Such events foster holistic development and encourage students to excel beyond
academics. Participation with integrity and true sportsmanship is what truly matters. These
platforms not only enhance physical endurance but also instill values of discipline, time
management, and mutual respect among students, which are essential for their overall
personality development.”
Earlier, Dr. Yeshbir Singh, Director, Sports and Physical Education, welcomed the gathering
and presented the annual sports report. He noted, “The Athletic Meet reflects our continued
commitment to promote fitness and excellence. The enthusiastic participation this year is
truly encouraging.”

heats, relay races, shot put, javelin throw, discus throw, high jump, triple jump, and tug of
war competitions, with students displaying remarkable energy and competitive spirit.
